My career has been a series of amazing opportunities. Entering the workforce, I began working in the field of criminal justice as a police training coordinator as well as with The United States Marshals Service and The National Institute of Justice. I then moved into the field of telecommunications in network, field, construction, and technical operations roles. My willingness to take on the opportunities presented, being comfortable with asking questions, and a thirst for knowledge were the keys to success in each of my roles.
I absolutely love working for Comcast NBCUniversal. I am proud to work for a company that has strong core values such as community investment, diversity and inclusion, integrity, and the environment – always paying it forward and giving back. I enjoy being part of a company that brings joy to people’s lives through entertainment and experiences. Not to mention the fact that we have cool technology and products that continue to evolve! It is said that “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.” – and I truly love what I do.
As an avid movie fan and TV lover – what a great place to work, right? As a mom of a gamer and a social media developer, my company provides my children with the ability to do what they love! My “littles” (as I call my grandchildren) love using their tablets to watch movies like Minions, Secret Life of Pets, and Sing – and we at Comcast provide the content and the WiFi so they can do just that. Pretty awesome!
My journey through life has provided me with experiences of various roadblocks that I have successfully conquered with the support of a family that believed in me – my potential and my commitment. That belief system supported me in my first career of training police officers up to now with moving into a technology field without a technical degree or frontline technician experience.
Part of my approach in life is a “pay it forward” approach. I try to ensure that others have the opportunities that I have had and I embrace diversity of background, culture, age, experience, etc. We all have so much we can learn from each other if we just open ourselves to the notion.
I have experience with and enjoy supporting women in the workplace, mothers, and overall support of young girls and women. I am especially passionate about supporting other women in the Technical Operations and Engineering field. I am committed to volunteerism and have supported organizations such as Dress for Success, Boys and Girls Club, Junior Achievement, Girls Inc., and various STEM Initiatives.
In addition to my positions in the workforce and community, I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. My greatest gifts and blessings have been my family. I have an amazing husband, two wonderful children, and three adorable grandchildren. Seeing life through the eyes of my grandchildren has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Our family journey has evolved over time and I am so fortunate that I have the opportunity to experience life with these people. From them, I learn the important lessons that “living life” can yield.
This blog has always been one of my professional dreams, and now that this dream is a reality, it is my hope that my experiences can somehow help others in the journey of life.
